Merry Christmas and a Healthy and Happy New Year!
This Christmas season, many of us will be celebrating the holiday with our families and friends by expressing our love for God. And many of us will celebrate by sharing love in the spirit of other traditions. However we choose to celebrate Christmas, let us also extend our love to all the innocent animals, too. Our slogan “Love Life!”—which for Down to Earth means “Love animals, don’t eat them”—can be applied not only during the Christmas season but every day of the year. Practice compassion and goodwill towards all life by making this Christmas meat-free. It will be good for your health, good for the planet, and of course…good for the cows, pigs and turkeys!
In this month’s newsletter we are thrilled to announce that Down to Earth has posted a new and improved website. It has a great new look and is loaded with a wealth of information that more effectively promotes a vegetarian lifestyle. Read all about it in “Down to Earth News.” And be sure to visit our Recipes page for some of the best all-vegetarian holiday recipes.
From all of us at Down to Earth, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Healthy and Happy New Year!

Aloha. ‘Tis the holiday season, a time of goodwill to all.
Despite this noble spirit, somehow the holidays are also the season for the consumption of even larger numbers of chickens, turkeys, pigs and cows! Approximately 10 billion animals a year, which is over 30 million animals a day, are cruelly slaughtered in the USA alone. I am not sure how many are slaughtered for the holidays, but the numbers are likely astounding. So, this Christmas season, as we think of goodwill to all people, let’s also show compassion and goodwill to all living beings, including the innocent animals. Read more »
